THE POISE RITE

THE POISE RITE – is described as playing a mixture of alternative rock and indie-pop. It is the first ever Polish band that has played the UK’s Glastonbury Festival, and the only Polish outfit to have so much written about them in the British press.

Their music has been influenced by the best guitar-oriented bands – and we’re not talking about similarities, but rather the same type of sensitivity. Their songs are solid rock numbers, coming out of the dusk in a slow tempo, enveloped in an aura of psychedelic colours. Add to that poetic lyrics written with feeling, brimming with existential reflections - and the result is that these simple and suggestive guitar compositions, carefully crafted, acquire a specific charm and promising sound. The essence of the band is made up of three inimitable organs. They are reluctant to talk of any influences, although they accentuate their inspirations of course. They are fully aware of the artistic road they have chosen, and continue in this direction.
In 2004 they played their first London shows, and received very positive reviews from critics, which enabled them to exist within the European music scene. Their songs appeared on a number of important UK compilations, including „Sound on Sound” and „UV Magazine” together with the likes of Clearlake, Tokyo Dragons and New York Dolls. They played well known London venues such as The Astoria, The Clapham Grand, Meanfiddler, The Bull&Gate, Cargo, Buffalo Bar, Scala, Telegraph, Bar Academy Islington, as well as Fort Regent in Jersey.

In 2007, after years of gaining experience and looking for their own unique sound, The Poise Rite released their first album „Passagalia” (EMI) and commenced a wide-ranging promotional tour in the UK, Germany, Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. The album is available in the UK, Poland, US, Italy, Germany, Sweden, France, Spain and elsewhere via Amazon and iTunes. They have played the biggest Polish festivals, including Heineken Open’er Festival (2007) as well as MFT Malta in Poznan (2007). Their efforts also enabled them to perform at Off Festival and Jarocin Festival.
Present time
THE POISE RITE has created a new album entitled "Milosz Hated RockandRoll". The band invited rising talent of the British music scene, Julian Tulk, to participate in the project. Rock Sound Magazine wrote of him: "... Masterful blend of emotion and integrity... Tulk's voice holds your attention with a gentle but vice-like grip... 9 / 10".
The album is almost complete and will soon see the light of day. This is the new & fresh face of the band, which adds new ideas and creativity. Julian Tulk's rock and folk influences, combined with the cold-wave sound of The Poise Rite is likely to grab many a fan of these genres. The band has also worked on special visualization, which will complement the live shows, creating a spectacle of light & sound.

"...stunning... their album should make good listening for any fans of strong bass linses, intelligent guitars, pronounced vocals, and dominant drumming... it may just be worth keeping an ear open for these guys. They might just be bursting onto the scene soon." (www.rockpulse.co.uk)
"...there is certainly a future for the band... with its big eighties-esque vocals and loud crunching guitars... they’re almost like a heavy Interpol or a European tinged Black Rebel Motorcycle Club... good fun and a mighty fine racket." (www.subba-cultcha.com)
"...Poise Rite is the better known of the two bands - having already played the Hammersmith Palais, the Mean Fiddler and the Astoria in London. Fans are said to compare them to 80s rock bands and the group has just signed a contract with EMI for its first CD album." (www.guardian.co.uk)
